EA reveals Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, sequel to Fallen Order

EA has officially revealed the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which will be coming in 2023.

Jedi Survivor is set five years after the events of the original game, which concluded with Cal escaping from Darth Vader after destroying an Imperial scheme. The game is developed by the same Respawn team that worked on Fallen Order.

With this time jump from the previous entry, fans will witness a gruffer, lantern-jawed Cal Jedi-ing it up at the height of the Empire’s dominance.

In the teaser for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Cal ponders someone floating in a bacta tank and there are glimpses of a lightsaber battle and a vision of his spacecraft, the Mantis, crash-landing on a desert world. Cal’s condition appears dismal to a Pau’an narrator, who wonders what his next step would be.

The Survivor series would effectively take place around the same time as the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and it is known that the Inquisitors will appear in both.

The desert planet featured in the trailer may possibly be Jakku, the iconic desert planet from the sequel trilogy. However, it’s also possible that it’s the desert moon Jedha.

The moon is a spiritually and historically significant location for the Jedi. Cal will also need a lightsaber at some point, but Star Wars fans also know the planet will eventually become the base of operations for someone Cal knows: Saw Gerrera, whom Cal met during the Fallen Order.

But the last remaining mystery of the trailer could indicate one potential ally in Cal’s continuing quest.

Fans have to wait and see who joins Cal along the journey, who proves to be genuine pals, and how he hopes to keep alive against the Empire as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor approaches its release next year.
