Sony’s State of Play 2023 has come to a close and showcased a bunch of trailers for new games, gameplays of previously announced ones, and new VR games coming to the PSVR2.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League got an extended gameplay showcase, Street Fighter 6 showed off three new fighters, and a new trailer for the Resident Evil 4 remake was revealed.
Here is everything that was showcased at the event:
5 new games coming to PSVR2
At the start of the show, Sony revealed five games for the PSVR2.
- Foglands is a wild-west-esque first-person shooter roguelike where you fight enemies like skeletons and spiders in a variety of ways ranging from a slinging .44 colt to throwing a wrench. The game will come out on Oculus Quest 2 and PSVR2 later this year.
- Green Hell, the niche hit survival game made by polish developer Creepy Jar is getting a VR port and will come later this year to PSVR2 as well as Meta Quest 2.
- Synapse is another fast-paced shooter game coming to the PSVR2 exclusively. It is set in a black-and-white world in which you as a protagonist have telekinetic powers.
- Journey to Foundation is an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s legendary Foundation series, where you play as a spy tasked with investigating civil unrest on the edge of the Galactic Empire as it begins to crumble. The game is set to come out during autumn this year.
- Before Your Eyes, a 2021 indie game is getting a VR adaptation. It’s a colorful game where you play as a recently deceased person who is reliving their memories. It’s an interactive adventure where every time you blink in real life you move forward in time.
3 Indie games announced
- Humanity is a game where you play as a spirit dog that leads hundreds of humans across a surreal geometric world. The game is being developed by the makers of Rez Infinite and Tetris Effect: Connected and is coming out in May to the PS5, PS4, PSVR, and PSVR2.
- Tchia is an open-world sandbox adventure in the style of Legend Of Zelda: Windwaker. The game is being developed by Awaceb and will come out on March 21, 2020. It will be available for PS5, PS4, and Microsoft Windows. Players who have the PS plus extra tier will be able to play the game for free.
- Goodbye Volcano High is a coming-of-age rhythm visual novel that is coming to the PS5 and PS4 on June 15, 2023.

Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections announcement
The next installment in the Ultimate Ninja Storm franchise compiles the Ultimate Ninja Storm games and weaves them into one long narrative. In addition to the 124 playable characters from the previous game, Ashura Otsuki and Indra Otsuki will also be included, with further character reveals to come.
Wayfinder gameplay reveal
Developed by Airship Syndicate, the makers of Darksiders Genesis, and Published by Digital Extremes, Wayfinders is an action RPG where you push back evil forces taking over the world alongside your friends. The latest trailer showed off its combat and an exciting giant boss battle.
Baldur’s Gate 3 gets release date
The top-down CRPG from Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3, has been in early access for the longest time. However, it now finally has a release date. A trailer showing off the various classes, multiplayer, and more. The game is also coming to PlayStation 5 along with PC on August 31, 2023.
Three new fighters in Street Fighter 6
Capcom showed a new trailer for the upcoming fighting game revealing three new fighters who are being added to the roster. The trailer showed brief gameplay of Zangief, Cammy, and Lily, the brand-new characters in the series.
Resident Evil 4 remake mercenary mode
A gameplay trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake confirmed that the game will have the Mercenary Mode from the original game. The trailer also showed off a boss fight with Jack Krauser. The game will come out on March 24, 2023, and a demo will be available beforehand on the PS5.
Destiny 2: Lightfall
Coming out on February 28, 2023, Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion got a new cinematic trailer. It showcased the battle between the Guardians and The Witness and Callus’ Shadow Legion of Cabal. It also revealed the Strand subclass.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League co-op gameplay
State of Play revealed the gameplay overview of Rocksteady’s upcoming 4-player co-op superhero game. It showed off the game’s combat and gameplay for Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League also seems to have RPG elements, and Rocksteady has confirmed the game to have a cosmetic battle pass, gear score mechanics, and upgradable weapons after the launch on May 26, 2023.
