New PS5 beta update introduces Discord voice chat support

A new PlayStation 5 beta update has introduced features like Discord voice chat and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for 1440p resolution. However, Sony has rolled out this update to select invitees from the U.S., Canada, Japan, the U.K., Germany, and France.

With this latest update, players are able to join Discord voice chats on their PS5 console by linking their two accounts. The Discord app needs to be used on a mobile or a computer to begin the chat.

Furthermore, features like screen sharing, the ability to show what you’re playing, and the freedom of joining games will also be present.

The new update also brings Variable Refresh Rate support at 1440p resolution for the PS5. VRR allows for a smoother visual performance with compatible HDMI 2.1 displays.

More HDMI displays will be supported as the console has undergone some changes to its 1440p output test parameters.
