Rocket League announces brand new game mode ‘Knockout Bash’

Rocket League has announced a new knockout bash mode, which will introduce a battle royale type of gameplay, in which only one car will be left standing at the end of the match.

It will be adding a limited-time game mode on the 27th of April, in which players will battle it out to be the last car standing.

Knockout Bash removes the balls and goals as eight players must knock each other off of platforms or into hazards until one player remains. This mode will be available for three different arenas: Quadron, Carbon, and Calavera.

Players will have to learn and adapt to the new gameplay mechanics such as blocking and grabbing if they want to survive this elimination-themed game mode.

The rules and features of Knockout Bash

Knockout Bash will not feature unlimited respawns, as players will be knocked out of the game once they’ve been eliminated three times. Any player knocked into the safe zone will have 10 seconds to return to the arena, with the safe area shrinking in size.

If there are still players in the arena after six minutes, the match will enter a sudden knockout where every attack will be at maximum power. In addition, any player knocked out of the safe zone will cause an instant elimination.

The game mode will also feature hazards in the arena such as spikes and laser grids that can instantly knock out any players caught or hit by them.

Several secondary mechanics will also be added such as stun attacks, enemy lock-on, triple jumps, and more.

Lastly, if the player completes specific challenges they can earn golden gift baskets, which will unlock a mix of classic Items from the Victory, Accelerator, and Turbo Item series.

Knockout Bash will be available from the 27th of April until the 10th of May.
