The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: 5 must-try fuse combinations

With The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and its predecessor Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has shown the gaming industry that they are capable of setting the bar and rising above it as well.

Breath of the Wild was already considered by some to be one of the best games ever made and Nintendo somehow managed to make an even better sequel. This is partly due to the new abilities Link has been given: Ascend, Fuse, Recall, and Ultrahand.

The Fuse ability in Tears of the Kingdom allows you to combine weapons with pretty much most things including parts of monsters, food, other weapons, etc. Here are some fun ones to try.

Two-handed weapon + Shield = Tank

While using a two-handed weapon in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you cannot use a shield for apparent reasons. The game doesn’t let you hold a shield while wielding a two-handed weapon either, but it doesn’t stop you from enjoying the benefits of one.

You see, you cannot use a shield, but you can fuse a shield to a spear or a greatsword giving you maximum offense as well as defense. This combination turns Link into a sort of tank, and you will dish out a lot of damage to enemies after parrying them.

Bomb Barrel + Weapon = Destructive fun

Triggering explosive barrels has never not been fun in video games and Tears of the Kingdom is no different. It dials it up to eleven by allowing you to fuse barrels to your weapons.

Fusing an explosive barrel to your shield will cause the enemies to blow up every time they hit your shield, but you can also fuse one to a sword and attack the enemies head-on to blow yourself up along with them.

This may come in handy if you’re having a hard time with a group of enemies and have some explosive barrels lying around. If taking damage is inevitable, might as well do it on your terms.

Shield + Minecart = Skateboard

Shield surfing is a fun ability on its own, but the fuse ability in Tears of the Kingdom allows you to fuse an entire minecart to your shield, essentially turning it into a skateboard.

This new shield-cart fusion will allow you to shield-surf pretty much anywhere on land and will be a much smoother and faster experience so be sure to try this out when you come across some mine carts.

Any weapon + Rocket = Epicness

The rocket is one of the coolest Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom and naturally makes for fun fuse combinations. When you pair it with a shield it will turn it into a jetpack that can fly you up, though not very high.

Pairing this with a bow and arrow will turn it into a firework of sorts and will deal a lot of damage when shot at an enemy. Finally, when paired with a sword, at first, won’t seem like it does anything, but when you press R, you will realize that it is the closest thing you can get to a rocket launcher in the game.

Shield + Flame Emitter = Flame thrower

Finally, the best and most fun fuse combination in Tears of the Kingdom is the shield and flame emitter fusion. Ever wanted to scorch your enemies with fire? This combination does that.

It might not be the strongest combination out there, but it is fun to use. Additionally, if you want something cooler, you could fuse the frost emitter to your shield and use its ability to freeze enemies for crowd control.
