‘Sons of the Forest’ sells over 2 million copies in one day

Sons of the Forest, the co-op survival game by Endnight Games’ has recently entered early access and has become the number 1 top-selling game on steam.

The game is a sequel to the 2014 hit The Forest and is a cooperative survival horror adventure where you are sent to a remote island to find a missing billionaire. Upon reaching the island you learn that it’s infested with cannibals.

You will gather resources, craft items, build shelters and fight grotesque-looking cannibals, and unearth the dark lore and secrets of the island. Endnight Games took to Twitter to celebrate the success of Sons of the Forest. According to the company, the game has sold 2 million copies.

The tweet read: “Thanks to those who have joined us in our Early Access journey into ‘Sons Of The Forest’ We have sold over 2 million copies in the first 24 hours, and are very excited for what we have in store for players in the coming weeks.”

The steam charts show that the game is the top most selling game at the moment, beating even the likes of Hogwarts Legacy and the recently released Atomic Hearts.

It is also the third most played game with active players peaking at 411,999. It is undoubtedly one of the most sold games of 2023, but it is nowhere close to how many copies Hogwarts Legacy has sold. However, that is not to take away from its success as Endnight Games is an indie developer with significantly fewer resources and budget.

Sons of the Forest is available only on PC, and Endnight Games has not made any announcements if the game is coming to other platforms. It has said that it plans to fully release the game in about eight months.
