Death Stranding 2: On the Beach: Everything we know about the game

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 game by Hideo Kojima.

Announced by Kojima at The Game Awards in 2022, it recently showcased an intriguing trailer at Sony’s first State of Play event for 2024.

Here is everything we know about the game so far.

Storyline and setting

Death Stranding 2 continues the inspiring mission centered around human connection.

The narrative focuses on Sam Porter, accompanied by companions, as they endeavor to save humanity from extinction.

It raises profound questions about the consequences and necessity of human connectivity in a world plagued by otherworldly adversaries.

The recently released trailer showcases brand new locations outside of the US as the narrative expands further.

More details about Death Stranding 2‘s plot are scarce, but it’s known that the story was rewritten following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visual and narrative elements

True to Kojima’s style, the trailer is filled with bizarre and striking elements.

It reveals a mission involving Sam, guided by Fragile, through a ship and into a world filled with Kojima’s signature oddities.

These also include grayscale renderings of characters, a sentient puppet moving at a low frame rate, and other surreal imagery such as a patient with octopus-like suckers on their arm, a fetus operating a flying robot drone, and even a guitar used as a weapon.
