Apex Legends’ new Legend classes explained

With season 16 of Apex Legends dropping today, Respawn Entertainment has made massive changes to the game, the most significant one being the reworking of the legends.

The new Apex Legends have been organized into five categories: Assault, Controller, Recon, Skirmisher, and Support. Each class will have its own unique perk and the Legends belonging to said class will be able to use it.

The assault class consists of Bangalore, Ash, Fuse, Mad Maggie, and Revenant.

Legends of this class have 2 perks. They can access the Secret Compartment of Weapon Supply Bins which will contain 4 “smart loot” attachments for the player or their team’s current loadout.

One loot slot is reserved for optics. If the secret compartment is opened while nobody in the player’s team has a weapon, a weapon will be dropped with 2 attachments for it.

They can carry more ammo per ammo stack. Light, Heavy, and Energy ammo can stack one extra while shotgun and sniper ammo have a reduced extra stack.

Legends that belong to this class are Wraith, Valkyrie, Octane, Horizon, Mirage, and Pathfinder.

Their perk allows them to spot incoming Care Packages and see the highest value contents in them.

Care Packages can be revealed by looking at them for a few seconds. They can be spotted in the air as they fall, or at their landing location, if the player is within range. Players can also see when the item has been taken by another team (turns grey).

Legends belonging to this class are Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer, and Vantage.

Their perk allows them to use Modified Survey Beacons, which can be used to reveal all enemy positions on the Map/Mini-Map for 30 seconds. However, the enemies within the pulse range will be alerted when the beacon is used.

The controller class consists of Caustic, Wattson, Rampart, and Catalyst.

Their perk lets them use the ring consoles to find the next ring.

The Legends in this class are Lifeline, Loba, Gibraltar, and Newcastle.

Their perks allow them to craft ally banners for 30 crafting materials. A crafted banner will contain all recoverable teammates.

They can also access secret compartments on blue bins, which have higher chances of dropping large health kits, heat shields when outside the ring, and mobile respawn beacon when carrying a teammate’s banner.

These perks will make the composition of a squad more crucial as it will determine what gameplay elements the team will be able to utilize and which they will have to forego.
