Everything announced at The Game Awards 2023

The Game Awards 2023 just took place. Along with the lavish award ceremonies, many games and updates were revealed at the event. Let’s take a look at them. 

Monster Hunter Wilds

Launching in 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds will be the sixth generation iteration of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Franchise.

The one-and-a-half-minute-long reveal trailer shown at The Game Awards 2023 showcased exciting new features like flying mounts, a dessert area, and more.  

Blade game announced

One of Marvel’s darker and more mature characters, Blade, is getting his own game.

The billion-dollar company is teaming up with Arkane Studios the masterminds behind games such as Dishonerd and Deathloop to bring this game to life.

It will be a third-person experience and is going to take place in the heart of Paris.

The game will supposedly be more mature than the previous Marvel games.

It is still in the early stages of development so it could take a while before Blade comes out.

The Finals is now available

The Finals, Embark’s first-person shooter that went viral for its environmental destruction physics is now available on PC.

Created by former developers who have worked on Battlefield, the game is a fast-paced shooter.

It has another layer of combat that comes in the form of its aforementioned destruction physics which allows players to use their environment to their advantage.

Free God of War Ragnarök DLC

A DLC expansion for God of War Ragnarok was announced by Sony during The Game Awards 2023.

The DLC, titled Valhalla, is free and adds a game mode that works similarly to rogue-lite games. It will be available for download on Dec 12th.

Kojima’s Xbox project revealed

The long-awaited collaboration between Kojima and Xbox was finally revealed at The Game Awards 2023.

Hideo Kojima himself came on stage to talk about the project which is simply titled OD; vague and ominous just like the teaser that was shown off.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date

Rocksteady Studios’ next game set in the Arkham-verse, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, got a new trailer.

It is set to release on February 2, 2024. 

No Man’s Sky developer’s new game 

No Man’s Sky’s developer Hello Games revealed that they are working on a new title known as Light No Fire.

The game seems to be an open-world online multiplayer game set in a fantasy world. 

Final Fantasy XVI DLCs announced

Square Enix revealed two different DLCs for Final Fantasy XVI: Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.

The former is already out and set just before the final battle, and the latter will be out in spring 2024. 

Rise of the Ronin release date

A release date for Team Ninja’s upcoming game Rise of the Ronin was revealed to be on March 22, 2024.

A brand new trailer that shows off more of the open-world samurai game was released.

Skull and Bones release date 

Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s upcoming pirate game, has gotten its new release date after many disappointing delays.

The new release date is February 16, 2024. 

Life is Strange creator’s next game 

Life is Strange creator, Dontnod’s next game was revealed at The Game Awards 2023.

The new game in development is called Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.

The game’s story will focus on friends who reunite after two decades and will be coming out next year for the PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC. 

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero reveal

The upcoming Dragon Ball game now has a proper title.

The previously teased Budokai Tenkaichi game is now called Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

Fortnite: Rocket Racing is out

Epic Games’ take on Rocket League, called Fortnite: Rocket Racing, got a new trailer and is officially out. 

Ori developer’s new game 

The developer of the Ori games, Moon Studios revealed it’s next game called No Rest for the Wicked.

Befitting the name, the game is going to be a Diablo-like ARPG.

The game’s early access will be out on PC in the first quarter of 2024.

The full release will have the gaming coming to PC as well as PS5 and Xbox series X/S. 

Ex-BioWare developers’ very own RPG

Archetype Entertainment, a team of developers who have formerly worked in BioWare are developing their own sci-fi RPG called Exodus.

In it, players play as “the Traveller” (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) who explored the universe while avoiding entities known as the Celestials.

Untitled Goose Game developer’s new game

The developer studio of Untitled Goose Game, House House, revealed its upcoming game called Big Walk at The Game Awards 2023. 

Ikumi Nakamura’s first indipendent game 

Ikumi Nakamura revealed her first game since she left Tango Gameworks, called Kemuri, which is going to be a colorful action game. 

Dead by Daylight spin-off

Dead by Daylight is getting a spin-off called The Casting of Frank Stone, which is going to be a story-focused game. 

Jurassic Park: Survival 

Jurassic Park: Survival is an upcoming first-person action game being developed by Saber Interactive.

It is a revival of a canceled game from the 2000s, but we are yet to know if the game is going to head in the same direction or an entirely different one. 

It is set in the same universe as the films.

Visions of Mana 

Square Enix revealed the next installment in the Mana franchise. Visions of Mana will be coming out on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC next year. 

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II gets a new trailer

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II got another long trailer along with a musical performance at The Game Awards 2023.

Not much more was revealed about the game and the previously revealed 2024 release is all the information we have regarding the game. 

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake 

Josef Fares, the mind behind It Takes Two and A Way Out is getting his first big game, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons remake.

It will be released on February 28, 2024, for the PS5, Xbox X|S, and PC. 

Former Payday developer’s new game 

Former Payday developers, 10 Chambers, revealed its upcoming game Den of Wolves.

The studio described as a “techno-thriller cooperative heist game” which is inspired by their Payday roots. 

Black Myth: Wukong release date

The highly anticipated Black Myth: Wukong finally has a release date.

It is set to come out on August 20, 2024, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. 

Tales of Kenzera: Zau 

Tales of Kenzera: Zau, an EA Originals game being developed by Surgent Studios is a flashy 2D sidescroller.

It will come out on April 23, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. 

Palia coming to Switch 

The cozy MMO, Palia will be coming to Switch on December 14 of this year. 

Outlast Trials coming to consoles 

The popular multiplayer survival horror game Outlast Trials is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4 on March 5, 2024. 

Rise of the Golden Idol revealed

Rise of the Golden Idol, the sequel to the hit indie game The Case of the Golden Idol was revealed at The Game Awards 2023.

It will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. 

As Dusk Falls coming to PS4 and PS5

As Dusk Falls, a choice-based game is coming to PS4 and PS5 on March 7, 2024.

Both the consoles will have audio description accessibility, and the PS5 will have haptic feedback. 

Last Sentinel revealed 

Another brand new game revealed at The Game Awards 2023 was Last Sentinel, which is going to be a narrative-focused open-world game set in a futuristic Tokyo. 

Zenless Zone Zero release window

miHoyo’s upcoming game set in the HoYoverse, Zenless Zone Zero got a release window in 2024 and will be coming out on PC and Mac. 

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 release date

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the sequel to the brutal action-packed third-person shooter Space Marine 1 finally got a release date of September 9, 2024. 

Mecha BREAK trailer 

Seasun Games’ showed off a stylish trailer for their upcoming sci-fi game Mecha BREAK which revealed the game’s combat. 

The First Descendant release window

The highly anticipated looter-shooter, The First Descendant, got a release window of summer 2024.

A brand-new trailer showed off more of its third-person combat. 

Exoborne revealed 

Developer Sharkmob showed off their upcoming game for the first time at The Game Awards 2023.

Titled Exoborne, the game is going to be an extraction shooter set in a post-apocalyptic U.S. where extreme weather has taken over. 

Dead Cells developer’s new game

Dead Cells’ developer, Motion Twin, revealed their next game titled Windblown.

The game is going to be a lightning-fast combat roguelite with anime-esque cutscenes. 

SEGA developing 5 new games

SEGA fans rejoiced as 5 new games were revealed to be in development including Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage.

Not much has been revealed about the release dates and development stages, however. 

Other announcements 

Other announcements made at The Game Awards 2023 included: 

  • Guilty Gear Strive got a new character, Elphelt Valentine. 
  • Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden got a new trailer. 
  • The First Berserker: Khazan, a flashy action game coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. 
  • Usual June, a supernatural action-adventure game with cel-shaded art, is coming in 2025.
  • Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, Daniel Mullins’ next was revealed. 
  • Harmonium: The Musical is a musical narrative adventure game coming to Xbox Game Pass. 
  • Thrasher, the upcoming game by the developers behind Thumper. 
  • World of Goo 2, the sequel to the physics-based puzzle game of the same name, got a trailer. 
  • Arknights: Endfield coming to PS5. 
  • The Matchless Kung Fu got a new trailer. 
  • Ready or Not, Void Interactive’s FPSis leaves early access. 
  • Honkai Star Rail got a new trailer. 
  • GTFO’s final update got a trailer at The Game Awards 2023. 
  • Asgard’s Wrath 2 is coming to Meta Quest on December 15th. 
  • Stormgate, a Starcraft-like game is coming to early access in summer 2024.
